Minneapolis celebrates St. Patty’s Day

Minneapolis+celebrates+St.+Pattys+Day

Celebrated annually on March 17th, Saint Patrick’s Day is a spiritual and cultural celebration of Saint Patrick, the most discerned saint of Ireland. In the United States, St. Patrick’s Day is known as the day where you wear green and have many celebrations. It is celebrated all across America, with certain places performing special tributes such as Chicago dying the Chicago River green.

What can you do in the Twin Cities area to celebrate? On Sunday, March 17th, Minneapolis will host the 47th St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The fun starts at 6:30pm at Nicollet Mall.

Another parade, the 39th Annual Crosslake St. Patrick’s day parade, starts at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 16th. This event also offers contests, entertainment, and treasure hunts.

Other ways of celebrating are eating traditional Irish foods such as “Cottage Pie,” mashed potatoes with turkey & ham. St. Patrick’s Day festivities are a good way to release your stress from school, and kick off your spring break with some Irish spirit!
