The Blake Boys Soccer Team won the Minnesota Class A championship because of the astonishing goal by Keegan James ‘21. After 105 minutes of play, with the score tied at zero against Bemidji, Jake Lundberg ‘19 had the idea of Keegan shooting the ball from over fifty yards out.
Keegan says that he has “never practiced this shot before,” yet the ball still managed to find its way to the right corner of the goal. Although Keegan didn’t have much confidence before, he was able to win the first championship for the boys soccer team since 2008.
The excitement continued after the game with many social media accounts and articles mentioning the incredible goal. To name a few, Barstool Sports, Sports Center Top Ten, Kare 11, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, MN Soccer Hub all mentioned the goal.
Keegan commented on the attention saying he has “gotten many more followers on social media, and it has been a very cool experience.” After this amazing goal and an immense amount of attention, who can guess what is coming next for Blake Sports.
