February’s Mystery Athlete of the Month

March 5, 2018

This month’s mystery athlete has been on Blake’s fencing team for four years, specifically on the Varsity Men’s Epee for three years. He won second place for Men’s Team Epee at State in 2016-2017, and fourth place in 2018,  as well as seventh place in Men’s individual Epee in 2017. Last year he was even voted most improved fencer by his teammates. Here’s a message from this month’s athlete:

Hi! My favorite color is green because it reminds me of plants and nature. My favorite movie is Megamind (2010) because it never fails to make my laugh. One of my role models is Donald Glover because of the way he is able to balance being serious with being silly, as well as the amazing funky music he makes. One thing I love is the outdoors and natural environments, no matter what type. My favorite books are anything by Neil Gaiman or Junot Diaz. Who am I?

This month’s mystery athlete is… Alden Pierson Smela ’18! Comment below suggestions for next month’s mystery athletes.
