Home Gyms Become Essential For Athletes

Many student athletes find escape in at-home gyms

In a time of closure for all public gyms and workout areas, athletes of all levels find themselves struggling to find methods of staying in shape. However, for the athletes lucky enough to have workout equipment in their homes, this is not an issue. Home gyms offer a unique workout experience personalized to the athlete, often including many different areas of focus within their respective sport. Home gyms also provide an escape from the average boring life in quarantine.

Hockey player Joe Miller ’21 says, “I’m very grateful to have such a great home setup. I am able to keep my strength up with weightlifting, while still being able to work on my hockey game.” Miller also says that he works out “Two, sometimes three times a day.” Athletes with great work ethic, such as Miller, are able to continue their workout regimen, and shouldn’t miss a beat when getting back on the ice.
