Student Musician Meghna Kaul ’14 plays in State Honor Band

This Saturday, November 10th, junior and clarinet player Meghna Kaul had the honor of performing with other talented musicians from across the state in the St. Olaf College Honor Band. She was nominated to the band by Upper School Band Director Brian Olson. While it is an honor to even be nominated to the band, Kaul was accepted to the Honor Band based on her musical qualifications and instrumentation.

Kaul traveled to the St. Olaf campus in Northfield, Minnesota on Saturday morning, ready for an entire day of activity. Having received the music in advance, the musicians were expected to practice on their own and to have a grasp on the music by the time of the conference at St. Olaf.  Then on Saturday, Kaul spent the day rehearsing with the other high school Honor Band musicians under the baton of guest conductor Dr. Russell Mikkelson, the Director of University Bands at Ohio State University. At the end of the day, there was a festival concert for friends and family in which the musicians performed the pieces they had rehearsed.

Congratulations Meghna!
