September marks release of exciting new games

A new PS5 is setup and connected to a TV and the controller. The PS5 can play many new releases.

The beginning of the school year can be a stressful time for students, and playing a newly released video game is a fun thing to do that could help reduce levels of stress. Various new video games are set to drop in the month of September. Sports fans would enjoy the NBA 2K and EA Sports FC games.

The NBA 2K series has continuously had a huge audience every year, with every game being hyped up more than the previous. This year has been no different. Aiden Wilson ’26 agreed with the hype noting, “I believe [it will be good]”. 2K Sports also announced a new feature that would be coming to NBA 2k24. Wilson said “Yes I’m excited because it is cross platform and I can play with my friends who have a PS4 or Xbox.” The hype surrounding NBA 2K24 is real, and I recommend you purchase the game and give it a try!

Soccer fans would enjoy EA Sports FC 24, however the feelings surrounding the game are mixed. Calvin Bredesen24 expressed how the game was fun “It’s pretty fun to play with the actual players and try to do some different strategies. Bredesen’s feelings are mixed about the game as he went on to note, “[It’s the] Same game every year for $60.” On the other hand, Saul Templeton ’26 commented positively on the game, “I’m looking forward to playing [with] Messi on Inter Miami and [with] all the new MLS and Saudi Arabian players.” Templeton also went on to appreciate the digital aspects of the game “I think it is realistic”. I’m sure EAFC 24 will be a very fun and successful game and I definitely recommend playing it, especially if you’re optimistic.

In a completely different realm of gaming, Counter-Strike 2 is releasing this month. If you are looking for a shooting-based game, then CS2 would be a perfect fit for you. After a huge success with the first game, the release of CS2 is very anticipated and has a huge change. Bredesen stated, “I think the big update is it’s a whole new game engine. All the bugs that were there should ideally be eliminated. “It should be better in the long run.” Bredesen also talked about the potential popularity of the new game, “I think it will be more popular because right when it was announced the CSGO player base shot up so I think a lot of people will probably  hop on and try it out.”
