Leaping into fall

New trends emerge as autumn abides

Fall means something different to each person. For some, it’s a favorite season, a time for bonfires and flannels and taking advantage of the last warm days. For others, the imepnding doom that is winter colors everything gray. Within the school, trends  start to appear during fall that aim to make the season more enjoyable for everyone.

For instance, Joely Gendler ‘19 says that Starbucks’s Pumpkin Spice Lattes “have earned the reputation for being the quintessential fall drink.”

On the academic side, the shift from complete freedom to seven-hour school days can be especially grueling, however, the annual sports of fall are creating more enthusiasm. According to Reece Sanders ‘17, “Friday night football games are getting to be a popular trend.”

Even though the fall season has plenty of fun new things to do, some students find it hard to move on from summer.  Callie Abraham ‘17 explained that she “miss[es] summer because of the warmth and the no school. Summer is extremely care-free so it’s somewhat of a hard transition.”

Fall has many different interpretations and meanings, but there’s no doubt that the feel in the air is just a little different when this time of year comes around, and the resulting trends are prevalent throughout the school. In the words of Abraham, “There’s something new for everyone to enjoy!”
