The new Outdoor club was founded by Maggie Ankeny ‘20 and John Meskan ‘20 in hopes of encouraging students to spend time outside and simultaneously create community.  Founded at the beginning of the school year, Forum has yet to charter this club. In order to be chartered, Meskan and Ankeny will present their vision to Forum, who will then vote. After the club is chartered,  it will be able to apply for funding and officially function as a club. The leaders hope to plan a variety of fun activities outside for all seasons. Examples include trips to the Sever’s Corn Maze, bouldering at Minneapolis Bouldering Project, or just simply sledding in the winter.

Ankeny said, “We hope to take Blake students outside and help everyone get excited about outdoor activities.”  Both have spent extensive time outdoors through family trips and summer programs and wanted to to extend their love of being outside to other students. Meant to be relaxing and easily enjoyable, the club won’t be a large time commitment.  Participants will occasionally meet during Monday tutorials but most of the activities will be on the weekends. Ankeny said, “We are more interested in having fun than accomplishing anything in particular.”
